Is Hollywood really trying to get healthy or are the big girls just playing into this whole “thin is better” vibe?
We are so quick to attack women like Jennifer Love Hewitt for being curvy, yet in that same breath we say someone like Jennifer Hudson is super sexy curvy.
The last time I checked Hudson was much larger then Hewitt so what’s the difference? Why can we accept one but not the other?
Hollywood has gone on this new “health” kick and it’s beginning to drive me a little batty.
Don’t get me wrong I am all for getting healthy, BUT healthy does not always mean thin!
Take women like Ricki Lake and Star Jones for instance, Both women lost a tremendous amount of weight by two different methods, But they didn’t stop at just being “healthy” they took it to the extreme and became under weight.
Ricki Lake has recently been reported saying that she went from 300 pounds to being 125 pounds.
Now if you have read any of my other posts you will know that taller women need to weight more then shorter women. Ricki Lake is 5′4′ and by all “healthy” standers she should weigh in at no less then 135 pounds. Which makes her under weight.
Star Jones is another perfect example of someone who took it to the extreme and went from being morbidly obese to looking like a little staving child in Africa.
I love hearing women who stand up for their curves and love themselves for who they are, But it saddens me when those same women are then talking about the new diet they are on.
Last year Jennifer Hudson was all about how hot and curvy she was, and she showed no shame for being a large women.
Come Oscar time she was reported talking about what her new diet secrets she had. Is that someone who is REALLY happy with who they are?
Yesterday I had to listen to Queen Latifa talk about her new diet plans which was odd for me to hear as she was one of those women who always promoted “curves”
Is she too now jumping on the “thin is better” bandwagon??
But on a much happier note Nikki Blonsky from the movie hairspray has said in a number of interviews that she is NOT willing to lose weight for anyone, specially not a movie role.
You go girl!
See sometimes curves and us fat girls really are not that bad, and we have much to offer and we do not need to get on the “thin is better” bandwagon.
